Exposing the Spirit of Jezebel: Pride, Control, and Defilement in the Church

I am joining you from St. Francis Prayer and Retreat Center in Rockingham County, North Carolina. There is much pressing on my heart, and I am beginning to realize just how long the Spirit of God has been speaking to me about this.

It is time for me to begin unveiling this message for your protection, warning, guidance, encouragement, and, for some of you, your healing.

This message concerns the spirit identified as Jezebel in 1 and 2 Kings. This spirit is seen throughout the Bible and is not limited to those books. Jesus also speaks specifically about Jezebel in Revelation.

We are going to examine this scheme of the enemy because the warfare has been great, and there have been many casualties. Families have been affected. Churches have been affected. Some of you may be wondering whether this is happening in your home. Others may be wondering whether it is happening in your church.

Do Not Harden Your Heart Toward God

Recently, I have encountered people whom I believe the Lord sent me to, but they denied the word of the Lord. They did not want to talk or meet. Their hearts were hardened toward receiving anything.

There is incredible grace released through the word of God. Yet we sometimes try to put God inside a box by declaring that He will only speak to us through Scripture.

God certainly speaks through Scripture, but He also speaks through nature, dreams, circumstances, and people He places in our lives. The goal is always to receive the word of the Lord—the precise word for the moment, the season, and the situation you are facing.

That word brings breakthrough. It brings clear instruction, wisdom, and understanding for whatever you may be walking through.

The subject of Jezebel has been heavily in my spirit. I am not afraid of this spirit, and I hope you are not afraid either. One of the greatest ways to combat it is to confront it by taking a stand.

This is only the introduction. There may be several installments in this series so that you can receive the teaching in smaller portions, meditate on it, and allow the Lord to minister to you.

A Prayer for Breakthrough and Protection

Father, in Jesus’ name, You are here with us. Your Word says that where two or three are gathered in Your name, You are in the midst of them.

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20

You are not here merely to observe. You are here to be involved.

Command my vocal cords, my thinking, my consciousness, and my heart. May I be synchronized with the symphonic beauty of Your harmonious message of love to Your people. Release great grace for breakthrough. Let chains be broken through these teachings.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

God Speaks in Many Ways

If you have followed this ministry for any amount of time, you know that the Lord frequently speaks to me through dreams. This is another reason we must not harden our hearts toward God. He speaks in manifold ways because He possesses manifold wisdom.

“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” Romans 11:33

God is so deep, wide, and layered that we will never understand everything about Him. Therefore, it is wise for us to receive as much as we can and to drink deeply from what He reveals.

I want to begin with a dream I had in January 2025.

For those engaged in prophetic ministry, I want to encourage you: the Lord does not waste anything. You may have questions about dreams, visions, or other things the Lord has shown you. Remember that they may have an appointed time.

Write them down. Record them. Then wait for the appointed time of fulfillment.

A Prophetic Dream About a Pastor

In my notes from January 2025, I wrote that I had experienced a portion of this dream twice.

When something is repeated, the Lord may be emphasizing it. Repetition can be His way of making certain that we hear what He is saying.

“God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: that power belongs to God.” Psalm 62:11

When the Lord speaks, we must apply faith to what we have heard. We cannot remain hearers only. We must become single-minded and focused upon Him. After receiving this portion of the dream twice, I asked the Lord to show me what I had missed the first time.

In the dream, I was watching as a watchman. A watchman is someone who remains aware and awake on behalf of people who may not yet be aware, awake, or informed.

I saw a pastor whom I knew. He was riding in a limousine. In this particular dream, the limousine represented the corruption of wealth. It represented a pastor who had become focused upon money, resources, and material things.

He was seated between several women. The tinted windows of the limousine represented secrecy. People could see the vehicle moving, but they could not see what was happening inside.

The pastor was filled with pride. He began boasting and repeatedly referring to himself as a “sexy pastor.” His words became a song, and the scene began to resemble a music video.

I then realized that the scene was being broadcast into my home, and my children were watching it.

When Sensuality Is Disguised as Spirituality

The dream was metaphorical, but its meaning was direct.

There are pastors and ministry leaders who have become consumed with pride, wealth, material possessions, carnality, and sensuality. Their private lives may be corrupt even while their public ministries appear successful.

Scripture warns us about wisdom and behavior that are sensual and demonic.

“This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.” James 3:15

We want our spiritual senses to be activated, but there is nothing good within the fallen flesh apart from what Jesus has done for us.

“For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, nothing good dwells.” Romans 7:18

What happens in a pastor’s private life does not affect that pastor alone. Other people will eventually feel it, discern it, witness it, or be influenced by it.

This is why we must pray for our pastors and spiritual leaders. It is also a warning to every person who carries spiritual responsibility: what you do in darkness does not remain isolated from the people you lead.

The Next Generation Is Watching

In the dream, the corruption was being broadcast directly to my children. This represented the effect that compromised spiritual leadership can have upon the next generation.

When influential people normalize pride, sensuality, secrecy, or corruption, younger people may begin to repeat what they have seen. The pattern can continue from one generation to another until the chain, curse, or destructive cycle is broken.

The dream then became sexually inappropriate. A young woman began participating in a degrading act with the pastor. She appeared inexperienced and unaware of the depth of what was happening.

The pastor did not stop her. Instead, he accepted and enjoyed the situation.

The scene represented the defilement of someone who believed she was doing something pleasing or acceptable. This is one of the ways the spirit of Jezebel operates. It enters subtly and attempts to convince people that sensuality is spirituality, that manipulation is ministry, and that pleasing a leader is the same as pleasing God.

The young woman had been intoxicated by a mixture of religion and sensuality. The pastor used his influence, position, and authority to dominate rather than protect her.

The Desire for Power, Dominance, and Control

The dream revealed two central characteristics: dominance and control.

The spirit of Jezebel produces a hunger for power, dominance, control, attention, and worship. It can operate in political offices, pastors’ offices, churches, ministries, and homes.

Before it becomes visible behavior, it often begins as an ideology—an idea that says, “I am the center. I deserve the attention. I deserve the affection. I deserve control.”

Agreement with that idea creates an opening. Pride and lust then give the ideology greater authority in a person’s life.

In the dream, the pastor relished his dominion over the young woman and the church. He no longer saw himself as a servant entrusted with God’s people. He began to view the church as his own possession.

But the Church does not belong to a pastor. It belongs to Jesus.

Pastors Are Called to Serve

God’s servants are supposed to belong completely to Him. The Levites did not receive a physical inheritance like the other tribes. The Lord Himself was their inheritance.

In the same way, a pastor is called to be an undershepherd—a servant who represents the heart of Christ to the people. A pastor is not called to rule, dominate, manipulate, or possess them.

This was one of the central conflicts between Jesus and the religious leaders. They desired positions of honor and authority, while Jesus taught that greatness is found in service.

“But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.” Matthew 23:11

Those influenced by this spirit become intoxicated by a mixture of religion, power, and sensuality. The pattern may involve a man dominating women, a woman dominating men, or any spiritual leader using authority to control and exploit others.

At the center is the same ideology: the leader becomes the focus instead of Jesus.

The Cost to Families and Children

At the end of this portion of the dream, I turned and looked at my children. They were witnessing the exposure of corruption within the church and within church leadership.

Something similar recently happened in my community. My children became aware of reports involving a pastor I know. I do not know everything that happened, but reports of corruption were made public.

The dream had shown me that my children would be exposed to something I never expected them to witness from within the church.

When a spiritual leader falls, the damage does not stop with that leader. It can affect spouses, children, congregations, communities, and people who were learning how to trust God.

Dignity is damaged. Trust is damaged. The perceived value of the Church and God’s people can be damaged in the eyes of the next generation.

This is why hidden compromise must never be treated casually.

We Must Die Daily

Every human being has a heart that Scripture describes as deceitful and desperately wicked. None of us can live this Christian life successfully through our own strength.

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9

The only way to truly live is to die daily. We must take up our cross daily and follow Jesus.

“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23

Following Jesus requires an acquaintance with grief and sorrow. It requires us to become content in every condition because our contentment does not come from circumstances. It comes from Him.

We must fall more deeply in love with Jesus and renew our vows to Him daily. We belong to Him for better or worse, in sickness and in health, until we die and reign with Him.

This teaching is ultimately a call to turn away from every false beauty and fall in love with Jesus again.

A Closing Prayer

Father, in Jesus’ name, thank You for exposing the wickedness of Jezebel.

You spoke to me at the beginning of this calendar year and said that Jezebel would be exposed in the Church during this Year of the Altar.

Jezebel comes to defile altars, and we are Your altar. Just as the young woman in the dream was being defiled, this spirit seeks to defile us so that we bow, serve, and please someone other than Jesus.

Teach us where we must truly be sensitized. Give us no room and no availability for this demonic spirit. Make our hearts resistant to Jezebel, but never hardened toward You.

Break every chain of pride, lust, manipulation, dominance, control, and spiritual abuse. Protect our families, our children, our churches, and the entire Body of Christ.

In the name of Jesus, amen.

Pray for the Body of Christ

I want you to join me in praying for the Body of Christ. Pray for your family. Pray for your household. Pray for pastors and ministry leaders. Pray that everything hidden in darkness will be exposed and that God’s people will return to purity, humility, service, and wholehearted devotion to Jesus.

This is only the first installment. We will continue digging into this subject and exposing how this spirit attempts to operate.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May He lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
