Defeating Jezebel | INTRODUCTION

Defeating Jezebel: How God Uses Opposition to Move You Forward

God is good.

You may be in a valley right now. You may be on a mountaintop. You may call it a wilderness or a cave. But wherever you are, the Lord says, “I am with you. I will never leave you or forsake you.”

I want to encourage you today that God sees you. He is intimately acquainted with your needs, and you can rest in Him.

Moses called Him our dwelling place from generation to generation. He is our tent, and His name is a strong tower.

God is speaking, and it is in His voice that we find life. His words are spirit and life. His Word is necessary food for us.

Why Teach About Jezebel?

I have already recorded a five-part series about defeating Jezebel. It is a substantial series and a precursor to a book I intend to write about fifty-one revelations concerning Jezebel.

The Church needs to be aware, and the Church needs to know how to fight.

I believe this spirit has been weakening churches around the world. But God is going to bring great freedom, deliverance, and power as we are set free from this intimidating and manipulating scheme that is rooted in fear.

This message is an introduction to the five teachings already recorded. The Lord brought me back to give you a foundational, powerful, and encouraging truth before we begin examining how this spirit seeks to influence and infiltrate the Church.

An Opening Prayer

Father, we are grateful. We are excited because we are brothers and sisters, one blood in You as our Father.

Speak now through my mind and my mouth. Take control. Allow every atom to work together for Your purpose.

May Your Word go forth and not return to You void. We are excited about what it will accomplish.

We pray this in the precious name of our big brother Jesus, with certainty. Amen.

Jezebel Has Only the Power We Give It

The Bible says we should be brave, stand in faith, and be strong. The Word produces these things in our lives.

We surrender our weakness so that we may find strength in Him. It is because we are in Him that we can be strong.

I want to encourage you concerning Jezebel because this spirit is often exalted or spoken of as though it possesses unlimited power.

It has no more power than we give it.

In fact, the power it has is the power to work God’s will in the Church.

The Lord gave me a dream showing Jezebel lurking outside church buildings and fellowships within the Body of Christ, looking for a way in. It was subtly attempting to gain access so that, over time, it could exert greater control, manipulation, and domination.

But Jezebel is not sovereign. God is sovereign.

Job and God’s Hand in Trials

Job chapter 2 gives us a foundational truth about every unholy spirit on the earth. God has allowed them to exist, and even they are ultimately used within His purposes.

In Job 2, the sons of God came before the Lord, and Satan came among them. The Lord asked where he had been, and Satan answered that he had been going to and fro throughout the earth.

Then the Lord presented Job as an example of righteousness.

“But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your face!” Job 2:5

Satan described his own attack against Job as God stretching out His hand.

Then the Lord responded:

“And the Lord said to Satan, ‘Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life.’” Job 2:6

Satan said, “Stretch out Your hand.” God said, “He is in your hand.”

So whose hand was Job in? Primarily, he was still in God’s hand.

That means Jezebel can still be used within the sovereign purposes of God.

Elijah Was Driven Into His Next Season

Consider Elijah.

Elijah destroyed the false prophets of Baal who had been empowered through Jezebel’s manipulation and her influence over Ahab.

Afterward, Jezebel threatened Elijah and declared that she would have him killed.

Elijah left. He separated from his servant, traveled into the wilderness, fasted, and eventually entered a cave. There he cried out, complained, sought the Lord, and asked God to take his life.

He was battling between faith and fear.

But Jezebel was used to drive Elijah into his next assignment.

We often describe this only in negative terms. We say Elijah was depressed or that Elijah ran. But the goodness of God was still present.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

Elijah was called according to God’s purpose. Jezebel became the force through which God moved him out of one season and into the next.

That next season included a fresh revelation of God’s faithfulness and the anointing of his successor.

Elijah was not demoted.

Elijah was human, and God does not condemn us for being human. Elijah did not curse God. Job did not curse God.

God allowed Satan to become an instrument in Job’s life that pushed Job into a deeper cry for the Lord. Job fasted, prayed, wept, and sought God until he encountered Him in a new way.

The same principle can be seen in Elijah’s life.

Jezebel Is Not on the Throne

Jezebel is not seated on anyone’s throne.

This spirit cannot attack the Church outside of what God permits. That means God can still accomplish a good work even through the presence of demonic opposition.

God is not undone.

God is sovereign.

Scripture says the heart of the king is in the hand of the Lord.

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.” Proverbs 21:1

God even uses the dark intentions of the enemy to move His people closer to Him.

David’s Worship Could Not Be Silenced

We see this again in David’s life.

Michal was being influenced by a Jezebel spirit when David returned home after worshiping before the Lord.

She criticized him and accused him of making a fool of himself.

But David refused to be intimidated.

“And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight.” 2 Samuel 6:22

David was saying, “I will sell out even more for the Lord. I will give Him more, and you cannot stop me.”

Jezebel seeks to keep us from getting closer to God, but God can use the attack itself to drive us closer to Him.

Opposition Can Drive Us to God

Jezebel may bring us into dry places. It may bring pain. It may bring us into situations where we have not yet seen God move in the greater measure we desire.

But in those places, we begin to cry out for God.

We recognize how desperately we need Him.

We sit more closely at His feet.

Jezebel does not stop the move of God.

Jezebel, Satan, Leviathan, water spirits, and every other demonic spirit people often describe as uniquely powerful are still under the authority of God.

God has even reserved certain spirits for future judgment and future purposes. He will use even imprisoned demons in the final cleansing of the earth and the purification of His Bride.

Victory Is Found in God’s Presence

We can trust God because He remains faithful even when we are faithless. He cannot deny who He is.

As we examine the mystery of the demonic realm, we do so to understand how to resist and defeat it.

We can take the battle to the gates of hell with boldness and bravery because we have already been given victory.

The victory is at the altar.

The victory is in His presence.

The victory is in fasting, prayer, and brokenness.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4

“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5

The Lord blesses us in our brokenness.

Even as these spirits seek to dominate us, we will cry out to God, and He will hear and answer.

A Prayer for Discernment and Victory

Father, I am grateful that we can trust You.

You are faithful when we are faithless. You cannot deny who You are.

As we delve into the mystery of the demonic realm so that we may understand how to defeat and resist it, give us boldness and bravery.

Remind us that we have already been given victory.

Show us where we need to be corrected.

As the lies of this demonic spirit attempt to distort our understanding of Your character, refine our knowledge of who You are.

As we expose this scheme that seeks to separate us from Your love, remind us that nothing can separate us from the love of God.

I am grateful for this teaching and this series.

May every ear and every eye appointed to hear and see it come and drink deeply.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Final Blessing

I praise God for you.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift His countenance upon you and give you peace.

I pray this for you from this time forward and forever.

Amen.

I love you. Be encouraged. This word is going to change your life.

God bless you.
