Hello, praise the Lord. I am grateful to share what I believe is on the heart of God. This word is not just for others; it is for me as well. The Lord is calling His people to seek Him first, to submit every part of life to Him, and to recognize that even food and drink can become places where our hearts drift from His lordship.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
Seek First the Kingdom
Jesus tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. That means our whole life is centered on being in right relationship with Him. It requires pursuit, decision-making, prioritization, and making Him supreme above all.
When Food Becomes Spiritual Dullness
The Spirit of God has been ministering to me about the intoxicating impact of food and drink. This is not simply about alcohol or desserts. It is about whether Christ truly owns every area of our lives—including our appetites. Overeating, indulgence, and lack of discipline can dull our spiritual awareness and make it harder to hear the whisper of God.
“Watch and pray...” Matthew 26:41
Nabal, Abigail, and the Heart of Stewardship
Using the account of Nabal and Abigail in 1 Samuel 25, this message shows the contrast between prideful ownership and humble stewardship. Nabal believed everything belonged to him, while Abigail recognized that everything ultimately belonged to God and responded with generosity, humility, and worship.
“Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God...” Romans 12:1
Fasting Restores Spiritual Sensitivity
Throughout Scripture, fasting is connected to hearing God more clearly. Hannah, Daniel, Job, and even Jesus demonstrate that denying the flesh is not about punishment but about drawing near to God. Fasting quiets the flesh so the Spirit can speak.
“For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Romans 14:17
Closing Prayer
Father, teach us to seek first Your kingdom in every area of our lives. Help us surrender even our appetites to You. Make our hearts sensitive to Your Spirit, our bodies living sacrifices, and our lives a testimony of Your goodness. In Jesus' name, amen.
